YOUR ORDINARY TRAVELLER
Tarsiers are small, insectivorous and of nocturnal habits. They have big eyes, big ears, adhesives pads on their fingers and toes. For the guides to know where they are the following day, they spend an hour or two in the morning locating them.
QUICK TOUR

BACLAYON, BOHOL CATHOLIC CHURCH – Located at Baclayon, Bohol, Philippines. This is the second oldest stone church in the Philippines. Old artifacts are being housed here on their museum. A cross, accordingly was lost sometime in the 1990. It was one of the four crosses only made, that found its way here. And, for those who love swimming, not far from here are beaches. Just verify from any locals where the best beaches are for free. Do not hesitate to ask anyone, anyone will definitely provide you information. WATCHTOWER – Located at Punta Cruz, Maribojoc, Bohol, Philippines. This used to be the Spaniard watch point from the marauding pirates during the height of their might. This is besides the sea. The water here is so pristine and almost cost nothing to swim. Just bring with you your own provision as there are no stores in the vicinity.

BAGUIO CITY – Viewed from the Mines View Park. This mountainous place is just so cool that this is the get-away to escape sweltering heat from low lying places. Governor Luke E. Wright, the American head in early 1900, instructed Architect Daniel H. Burnham to create, map out a plan where the Americans and their employees will be able to unwind and relax. So . . . . . . . BAGUIO CITY was born.

CHOCOLATE HILLS – Located at Carmen, Bohol, Philippines. There are about 1,200 of them scattered on a vast are. Famous, picturesque and majestic. By summertime the green scenery dies making the hills colored brown, hence its name. Once up on the the hill, there is still an elevated area where you have to walk to the top to get a clear view of the vicinity. On the hill is a hotel and the cost per night of stay is approximately around PHP1,200.00. A restaurant is also nearby that caters local delicacies. For those who do not have personal vehicles, there are motorcycles at the entrance for rent at PHP20.00 per person per trip. The need to take a ride is a must as you will be going up a hill. You can also request them to fetch you back at the designated time. They can also take you to places of interest for a fee. MY PERSONAL ADVISORY: Sleep at Chocolate Hills Hotel and enjoy watching the sunset as it unfolds and wake up early and enjoy watching a breathtaking sunrise. (UPDATE : OCTOBER 15, 2013 – Viewing deck of the Chocolate Hills partially damaged due to 7.1 maginitude earthquake.)

FOLKDANCE – As your river boat cruise at the LOBOC RIVER CRUISE winds down, you will be entertained by folk dancing of the locals. Using only ukelele or a small guitar with four strings. The hut where they are dancing is on the river and the floor are whole bamboos attached to each other. Bamboos floats on water.

VIEW FROM THE WATCHTOWER – Crystal clear water is what you will be seeing upon visiting this place. Apart from witnessing history of Spain’s might, you will also be awed the beauty of the place. This place is not commercialized, so you will be seeing nature in its natural beauty.

BLOOD COMPACT – Happened at Bo-ol, Tagbilaran City, Bohol, Philippines. History written down through their veins between SPANISH EXPLORER – Miguel López de Legazpi and BOHOLANO CHIEFTAIN – Datu Sikatuna of Bohol on March 16, 1565. So epic was their act, that this is the FIRST TREATY OF FRIENDSHIP THAT THE COUNTRY RECOGNIZED AND COULD BE OF THE WHOLE WORLD. They made a cut from their forearm, put the blood in a cup mixed with wine and drank. That was the way of sealing their friendship.

VIEW FROM THE BLOOD COMPACT SITE – In the distance is Panglao Island where beautiful beaches abound. It is heavily commercialized that you need to be booked to enjoy its white sandy beaches.

WANDERING SPIDER was spotted at Butterfly Sanctuary at Bilar, Bohol, Philippines. Since at Butterfly Sanctuary they do not kill insects, they just live them alone, even if it may mean harm to the butterflies.

BUTTERFLY SANCTUARY – Located at Bilar, Bohol, Philippines. Would you believe that this worm will become a butterfly? Yes, it is true, this worm will become a butterfly soon. Being a worm is one of the life stages of a butterfly and also known as metamorphosis. Come and visit this place so you will be toured and informed on the life cycle of butterfly.

MAN MADE FOREST – Located at Bilar, Bohol, Philippines and these trees were planted intentionally by the Forestry Department. To enjoy the scenery, you need not venture into the heart of the forest. A road cuts through it. Enjoy the cool and savor the beauty with trees surrounding you.

TARSIER SANCTUARY – Located at Corella, Bohol, Philippines. Here the tarsiers are located who are free to roam around. They may be captive in the sense that they are fenced, but it so big enough that they absolutely free to wander. A tourist is caught wandering into the tarsiers heartland in search for them. But the guides already knows there whereabouts as they spend an hour or two in the morning locating for them. It is not just one guide that checks the tarsiers but all of them. SUNDIAL – Located at Philippine Military Academy, Baguio City. This is the most primitive form of clock which was used during the early times for determining the time of day. The sun dial is at work when the sun casts a shadow on a triangular pointed pin called gnomon. The sun’s shadow on the plate reflects the hour of the day.

A TREE – Located at Maryknoll Sanctuary, Baguio City. This place is owned by the Maryknoll Sister, which was supposed to erect a school. After the 1990 earthquake they changed the plan and made it a sanctuary or a holy place.

BREATHTAKING VIEW OF BAGUIO CITY – Taken from the Tree Top Adventures’ Skywalk at Baguio City. So inspiring is the place that you can have an unhampered view of Baguio City. On a clear beautiful day you can feel the serenity of the place.

SKYWALK – Located at Tree Top Adventure, Baguio City. This is the place where you have the nicest way to touch nature. It is just so beautifully awesome. A man made steel that gives a bright view of the place.

ADVENTURE RIDE – Located at Tree Top Adventure, Baguio City. This place had several adventure rides to choose from. It is beside Camp John Hay.

BEAUTIFULLY LIGHTED FOUNTAIN – Located at Burnham Park, Baguio City. Night life at the city, you can stroll the night away and relax at Burnham Park. You can see people from all walks of life savoring the warmth and beauty of the city. This is a no smoking place.

FLOWERS GALORE – Located at Burnham Park, Baguio City. Here you can find all kinds of flowers.

LEANING TREE – Located at Mansion House, Baguio City. A tree leans most probably in search of sunlight.

TAM-AWAN VILLAGE – Located at Baguio City. This is an actual size of the houses of the indigenous people of the Cordillera Region. Please be informed that at TAM-AWAN VILLAGE, there are no people living here. You can not see elderly people doing their chores and kids playing around. This is just artists conception of the peoples’ culture and lifestyle.

KIDS WHOSE TOTAL INNOCENCE IS COMPLETELY OVERSHADOWED BY POVERTY – Video and picture taken at Burnham Park, Baguio City. I really did not had the intention of putting it on video. The kid on the left came to me and beg and at first I just did not mind him at all. He was just so persistent that he went on to sing. It was one of the songs that I heard over the radio. I am not so familiar with the song and seems that the lyrics could be wrong but the tune was just right – just enough to go with the body movements he made. That was it and it ended. But when we strolled down Burnham Park, I happened to see them again but with the kid in the middle away from the two. He seems a bit shy of begging. I called them again to get a picture and this kid in the middle ran away. He did not want pictured. At the insistence of the kid on the right that he took part. I did not bother to ask them questions anymore so as not to bother the small kids’ day. La Trinidad is a place where the farmers’ products are sold. Farmers, I know do not earn much on their products – IT IS THE MIDDLEMEN. It is just a pity but that is how capitalism works. And these kids could be farmers’ children. STRAWBERRY FARM – Located at La Trinidad, Benguet. We were unlucky to visit the place on October 3, 2013 as it was their planting season. The harvesting time will be end of December or early January. This is how the strawberry is being planted. There is a cellophane to cover the mound and on the hole the strawberry seedling is being inserted.

Called the RUINS. This landmark located in Talisay, Bacolod City, Negros Occidental was constructed by a rich man in honor of her deceased wife. The difference with the Taj Mahal of India was her wife was not buried here. The house is of no ordinary. Materials used in the construction included a two inch thick floor of the best wood the time had. The concrete is of A1 mixture. Why this look now? World War II came in and the Americans and Filipino soldiers requested the owner to burn the house to avoid being used by the Japanese. The owner consented and and so the burning started. Gallons of gasoline were not enough to completely demolish the building. On the third day upon using used oil that the woods were all eaten up by fire.

A SAD DAY FOR BOHOL – Centuries old Catholic Churches were partially and others totally damaged. October 15, 2013 a 7.1 magnitude earthquake struck the province at around 8:30 a.m. (GMT +8). It was a holiday for Id-ul-Adha (Feast of the Sacrifice) which means offices and schools were closed. Had it happened on a working day there could have been more casualties.

OCTOBER 15, 2013 – A 7.1 magnitude earthquake struck the province of Bohol. Centuries old Catholic Churches came crumbling down. When rubbles cleared these HOLY IMAGES REMAINED STANDING.
